“They can’t stop biology…”
Welcome to the Bindra Lab website, where we present our group’s research areas, collaborators, photos, and stories. In an era of tight NIH funding, coupled with a seemingly unending war on cancer, our laboratory seeks to weather the storm, and to continue the search for new ways to kill cancer cells. We aim to achieve this by gathering students from the undergraduate, graduate and medical school realms, as well as post-doctoral researchers and fellows who are willing to fight. We draw on the expertise of collaborators from multiple realms, and we rely on support from foundations who are dedicated to keeping “American Science” on the map.
At our weekly oncology tumor boards, often we leave feeling that there is no cure in sight for tumors like diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) or glioblastoma. However, we continue to see examples in the medical literature where incurable cancers have been cured, and/or overall survival is doubled. In the laboratory, we see technologies abruptly emerging which represent quantum leaps above existing methods and techniques. We are constantly fascinated by students who come to the table with novel ideas and different ways to approach classic scientific problems. These factors allow us to return to those tumor boards with renewed energy.
In summary, “They Can’t Stop Biology.”
